CURE Tooltest Social Media Monitoring, Part 4

You are currently viewing CURE Tooltest Social Media Monitoring, Part 4

Only very few tool providers allow an extensive test phase for potential customers. Instead, they are offering long-term contracts with high monthly costs. In the most inconvenient case, this leads to committing to a tool that ends up not being altogether entirely suitable. To provide assistance in the decision for a tool, we therefore gradually test various tools and report our findings.

We have already thoroughly tested five tools in the first part of our tool testing series. Here, Talkwalker proved to be the best tool for most of our use cases. Additionally, Synthesio convinced us particularly in terms of setup, number of results, error rate, sentiment and language analysis.

While we only tested European tool providers during the first test phase, we are looking forward to results from one American company, two German companies and a Canadian one: Netbase™, Ubermetrics, Webbosaurus and Sysomos.

NETBASE™

The Silicon Valley-based company was founded in 2003 by two former Ariba engineers. The first customers were P&G, Coca-Cola and Kraft in July 2009. Among other features, the monitoring solution provides a patented NLP programme offering the opportunity for further insights into tonality. Netbase™ has been awarded several prizes already, e.g. being named “Leader” in the Forrester report “Enterprise Listening Platforms Q1 2016”.

UBERMETRICS

According to company-provided information, the tool called Delta is able to search over 400 million online and offline sources in over 70 languages. The Berlin-based company was founded in 2011. It now comprises 35 employees and counts Microsoft, BMW and Zalando among its clients. Ubermetrics has received several awards, e.g. the German Stevie in 2015.

WEBBOSAURUS

The service provider was founded in 2009 and is Berlin-based as well. As a full-service provider, the company takes care of both the setup process within their own tool and the qualitative review of the results. Their clients include WGZ Bank, Rossmann and Alltours.

SYSOMOS

The company’s self-imposed goal is to make social media managers’ lives simpler by uniting means of analysis, publishing and engagement within one single tool. To make this possible, several other companies have been bought up and integrated into the solution. Company headquarters are in Toronto, where the company has been founded in 2007. Renowned clients include Visa, Adidas and Levi’s.

Read all about how the tools performed compared to each other and what strengths they bring along in our next blog post in the CURE TOOLTEST series.
